not enough inspiriation for meera
so we have a slight departure.
here's a shameless reproduction of a translation of:
Song Name : Muddugaare YashodaComposer :
Annamacharyaraagam: kurinji
muddugAre yazodA mungiti 'muthyamu' vIDu,
tidda rAni mahimala devakI suthuDu... (refrain)
Lord Krishna, the Possessor of inimitable Divine powers, the Son of Queen Devaki has taken the Form of a cute, little adorable, Child playing on the courtyardof Mother Yasoda, just like a pure 'precious Pearl'!
anthanintha gollethala araceti 'mANikyamu'
pantamADe kamsuni pAli 'vajramu'
kAntula mUDu lokAla 'garuDa pacca'
pUsacentala mAlonunna cinni kRSNuDu!
This cute Boy is like a 'charming Ruby' that has been easily captured and held in the lotus-palms of His blessed Gopis!
He is like the tough 'deadly Diamond' for the evil-mindedKing Kamsa!
Not only that, though Baby Krishna ever remains very close to us,
His unlimited effulgence illuminates the entire three worlds like a 'brilliant Emerald'!
ratikeli rukmiNiki rangumovi 'pagaDamu'
miti govardhanapu 'gomedhikamu'
satamai zankhachakrAla sandula 'vaiDhUryamu'
gatiyai mammu gAce kamalAkSuDu!
Our eternal Shelter and sole Protector is the lotus-eyed Lord Who is the 'rapturous red Coral' gem-ornament occupying the passionate lips of His Consort Rukmini indulging in amorous pastimes!
He is the unending treasure of Mount Govardhana likethe richly lustrous gem stone 'Gomedhikam'!
Flanked on either side by the sacred Conch and magnificent wheel-weapon, Sudarshana, His Divine auspicious form shines forth like the rare majestic gem 'VaiDhUrya'!
kAlinguni talalapai gappina 'puSyarAgamu'
yeleti zrI venkatAdri 'indranIlamu'
pAlajalanidhilona bAyani divya 'ratnamu'
bAlunivale tirige padma-nAbhuDu!
This lotus-naveled Lord appearing just like an ordinary young Boy has subdued the pride of wicked Kaliya serpent covering his multiple poisonous heads and blinding it like a dazzling, colorful gem 'PuSyarAga'!
The Saint-poet clearly indicates that unlike the precious gemstones previously used in similarity to describe the Divine charm of Sri Krishna, the blessed Lord is not obtainable at all even from the celestial Ocean of milk from which many astonishing, wonderful treasures have been recovered by Devas! But now, for the sake of gracing His surrendered devotees, He has descended to reign over the holy hill called 'Venkata',resembling a handsome 'royal blue Sapphire'!
